It is now time for the big reveal!!!!! I have had such a huge internal debate over when I was ready to share finished photos of our home in Kigali. While most of our friends would have said it was completely done 6 months ago (!) I still don't actually feel like it's really finished.   I'm still changing up porch furniture, debating curtains, and I'm not quite pleased with the legs of the island yet- to name a few!  However,  it is time to get the photos out there, and to move on with all of the other Kigali homes and projects I've been working on and need to share with you too! I will be sure to update the blog with all of my own home changes as I make them. And you know I will! ;) So let's take a brief home tour of only the best shots for now! Starting with our front porch. I hope you like it!!! The Guest Room It was really easy to forget about the bedrooms through the hallway. We weren't renovating them, we were keeping the floors the same and the walls were just white. They were 3 simple rooms and not the highest on my priority list, considering the magnitude of the main area and all of the work that that needed! But after looking at it this way for so long, and basically using it as a huge walk in closet, I wanted to get organized, and more importantly, I was in the mood to make a mural. :) This is how the guest bedroom looked when we moved in. First I took the old curtain rod down and had a wooden curtain rod made.  Then the mural began! I wanted to do something very bohemian, light, and resembling a layered watercolor. I added the circles Some yellow And some burnt orange and purple! (night-time painting lends for bad progress photos) But by morning it looked pretty good!! I was extremely ecstatic to get our floors painted, and I cannot believe how good they look, and how unique our home now is. :) Once they were sufficiently dried, we were able to bring all of our stuff back in and set up our home!  While we were gone waiting for the floors to dry with our things on the front deck and hoping for draught, the rest of our larger furniture also arrived from Kigali! ...and sat on our deck outside for a weekend... BUT! We got it! Here is how the house is looking... Our Island! With the modern black metal stools! And shiny black floors! And Patrick using it just as intended :)  Our extra long, extra deep, extra big sofa (at Patrick's request!) It does smell a bit like skunk maybe from being outside that whole time... Anyone know how to get that out? Anyone know if there are skunks in Rwanda?  A few weeks prior Patrick and I went to Kigali to talk with Gervais, the carpenter who made our sofa, island, apothecary, and bathroom...
