NAFASI THE BLOG

It is now time for the big reveal!!!!! I have had such a huge internal debate over when I was ready to share finished photos of our home in Kigali. While most of our friends would have said it was completely done 6 months ago (!) I still don't actually feel like it's really finished.   I'm still changing up porch furniture, debating curtains, and I'm not quite pleased with the legs of the island yet- to name a few!  However,  it is time to get the photos out there, and to move on with all of the other Kigali homes and projects I've been working on and need to share with you too! I will be sure to update the blog with all of my own home changes as I make them. And you know I will! ;) So let's take a brief home tour of only the best shots for now! Starting with our front porch. I hope you like it!!! In the following months, new furniture was arriving in the house every week! How fun! Patrick would come home every day wondering what he'd find. I was drawing up designs with different carpenters, and essentially testing out who I would like to continue working with through NAFASI as a business for future clients as well! I found some great people to work with, and of course some hiccups along the way too... You saw my pretty apothecary being made on last week's blog . They delivered it without finishing, as I requested, and just leveled everything out and added my apothecary pulls. I was thrilled with how it turned out!!  Then I shopped around for the best wood stains, and tried a few out. This stain is great, and I think it turned out really beautifully, but it was a hugeeeee pain to work with. It stains everything. EVERYTHING immediately. Including my hands and nails for 2 weeks. :/ My own fault for not using gloves. But that's pretty difficult to do to...

These are by NO means final pictures, BUT I've been getting requests to see how it has turned out! So right now this is the state of our bathroom which is a temple :) We received the apothecary from Gervais! We're still waiting on label handles from the US :) Really happy with how the floors turned out!!! We have candles all over and take spa showers!  That towel ladder is my #1 fav. Thank you again Jean Baptiste! Still have to get the right light fixture moved to the left!!  The retiled shower! We also have big plans to turn that partition wall into a live wall with plants growing down it! And there will be a chandelier from the US hanging right in the center.  The bathroom is so close! It feels pretty done and luxurious already though. :) Just for old time's sake, let's check out how it used to look... (Or see it on this blog post, "Our Bathroom Is Like A Temple." ) Don't miss it!
