In May, We Bought Furniture!

Look at that dog loving her fresh new floor! While Nami would have loved to keep the house empty as a doggy-gym to run around in, Patrick and I had other plans! We didn't have much, but we had our new sectional finished!! I had started design and production on it early, knowing that that would be the most important thing functionally to live in the house for a while. Then keeping the original design  in mind- yet still allowing for inevitable surprises, I moved quickly to get all the furniture and smaller details into place! You can see the banquet benches in blue leather and the dining table are added next. Eating from the couch every night gets old. 😂 You know I love a good apothecary! They're great for storage and also so beautiful. This one will be going in our entryway once it gets finished!  We set up our bed and added our bedding from Rubengera for now. I also made Nami a little princess bed of her own!  One piece of the design...

Kitchening is hard.

So once the cabinets arrived, the kitchen started to come alive! However one small annoyance, was I wanted to move the plumbing to be centered under the window. The way the kitchen used to be, the sink was to the left of the window, and when you tried opening the window on the left side, it would hit the faucet. So I planned to center everything. This just took forever. I think there was stalling because no one else but me wanted to do it, or thought it was necessary. ;) And then once the pipes were moved, we built a huge cement farmhouse sink around it. So that just means that the right side cabinets just had to sit in the middle for a while instead of being pushed into place. Here's that whole fiasco! First- the old kitchen arrangement: The new kitchen with cabinets patiently waiting to be pushed into place. ;) Digging a hole through the outside of the house to move the pipes and center the plumbing. The outside of the house did sacrifice here for that centered f...

The Backyard Art House

The Backyard House was being neglected for a minute while we let the Main House shine. However the plan was set. Back there I wanted to have a more contemporary Art-House color blocked Studio vibe. Something like the colors in this floorplan- Watch as it slowly changes from a pile of mud to the beginning stages of that plan!  Starting with that bathroom. Hello! The original exterior door was closed up first. Then they started leveling off and smoothing the floor. Re-working all the plumbing as well.  They built the half wall to separate the shower for me while I was gone. You'll see we edit it a little bit later.   In the main space the floors are all smoothed out!  The pathway from the Main House is repaved. A constant state of disarray in that backyard until we finish. I can't wait to clear it out and grow some grass! Yuck 😜 Back in the bathroom they're adding my step for a dry changing area before you enter the show...
